In light of yesterday’s catastrophic staged performance by Trump and Vance for all the world to see live, I need to share about that. It was a moment that “will live in infamy”—bringing shame on America for the rest of history.
I think most people, except for the MAGA fools, now have gotten full measure of just how depraved, evil, sadistic, soulless, arrogant, merciless, relentless (I could go on and on listing the awfulness) Trump and the fascist oligarchs he’s fronting for actually are. “An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.” —Sun Tzu. The new Axis powers (Musk, Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, and who knows how many others secretly lurk in the shadows of the fascist “deep state”) are trying to turn the entire West into ashes.
Having extensively researched my options for leaving the US—and finding I have none—I had reconciled myself to staying here and fighting. I have no other choice. However, seeing how fast Trump & Co have been destroying the queer community (beginning with trans folks, the most vulnerable among us), it’s only a matter of time (and the fascists are moving very quickly) before we are all recriminalized. AS of yesterday we queers are again subject to being surveilled—on grounds of being a threat to national security.
They are dismantling healthcare for the old, the poor, the disabled, and anyone too sick to work. They have already blocked funding and research for HIV/AIDS (among other this). It’s only a matter of time before medical care for us HIV+ people will be terminated. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go as far as they did with abortion and make it illegal for doctors to treat people living with HIV.
At this point it is clear to me that at some point I will have only two options: find political asylum somewhere (who knows what countries would be willing to grant sick and dying Americans asylum?) or stay in the US and die from AIDS. At this time I remain concerned, and not yet panicked.
